We’re working on the backgrounds today. This one is anywhere near what it will look like but trying some lights and shadows in the bar. Obviously contrast between the inside and outside is important, so the bar needs to be muted but can’t be as dark as this. That’s also why we wont be using the following image, although its nice to include on the blog
looking at the bar scene…and the piano playing.
Ever wondered why? These old cinema intermissions might explain it…
and also, nothing to do with Dr. Pepper.
Loons on the moon! It warms up, at the end some really nice simple fast paced animation in time with the music.
Toot, Whistle Plunk And Bloom. (1953)
nice vignettes in this one too!
and the Mae West room in the Museo-teatro Dalí de Figueres
The video is a Zagreb animation Osvetnik (Dušan Vukotić, 1958). Filled with lilac scenes.
These Francis Bacon paintings are the tones I’m looking for in the bar scene. I want a brown/manila tone for the floor and bar with black lines. and purples for the characters and significant props in the background. Even the wine and food will be purple.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJImHTTO60Y
another Dušan Vukotić animation Koncert za mašinsku pušku (1958) this time in greys and browns. I love the style of this one and how the animation is synced with the music. Some brilliant visuals in there.
A couple more colour references. The Witches and The Milk Tray Man.
There were so many great proposed ideas and everyone had put a lot of passion into their pitch. I was really impressed and it would be great to see all of the projects turned into films at some point.
I’m really excited to be working with Lynn, Steph & David. We had a talk through the story on Friday afternoon, and discussed the next phases there are still some parts I need to clarify to the group so that’s what I’m working on this weekend. I think it’s going to be a really interesting experience. I’ve been getting advice from a friend who does all her animation in photoshop. Making use of all the brushes on offer would really work with the look I’m trying to achieve! But first on with the necessary alterations to the storyboard.
Thank you to everyone who voted for ‘Parties’. I really appreciate being given this opportunity by you.
