and she was like “uh-huh…huh?”
a little bit of research re the cheerleader type.
So here are the bits and bobs/work in progress that’s been going on recently.
I’ve got some great stuff for the backgrounds from the 4D model shop. And today I’ve been trying various materials, and also experimenting with different hairstyles for the puppets. Diane (blonde and curly) is really starting to look like Laura Dern in Wild At Heart!
Yes it’s a sunday night double bill of 80’s teen movies. The Classic Heathers followed by the lesser known Tuff Turf with a young Downey Jr. and James Spader.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2OPV6iuk2o
Steve advised me to keep watching teen movies. and I was like OK boss! you got it! 😉
The ever awesome Kim Shattuck from the Muffs in the shades! Joan in ‘Strait Jacket’ with an Axe. Piggy and Kermit…etc.
I was talking to Darryl about lighting today. I’ve got some night-time scenes to shoot. One trick he suggested was showing lights, a street lamp or an illuminated widow to give the effect of night, without making it too dark to see. Tips from the movie world!
David Lynch’s ad for his organic coffee. Barbie’s PR guys at Mattel didn’t like it though.
DAVID: Yeah, I’m gonna get you a cup of coffee.
BARBIE: Jeez, Dave thanks… thanks. That’s really beautiful. I feel dreamy just thinkin’ bout it.
DAVID: Let’s go get that cup of coffee baby.
Stills from the video for the title song Crazy Clown Time. Killer album by a great man. Searching for the mood of the night fight in my film. My sister Romy recommended it for my project. It’s already helping a lot!
A still from Thrashin’ a movie about L.A. skaters. The Daggers (badass tough guys who spray-paint their bedroom walls) can’t stand the dudes from The Valley (the tanned ones with clean hair). The soundtrack was mostly lame 80’s synth stuff, and the message was a bit “it’s ok to skate as long as you don’t look like a punk” but the dialogue was funny! Everything was “gnarly” they weren’t kidding. The downhill race had people crashing their boards at every turn. One guy even had an inflatable skeleton in a noose on his wall! Seriously.
