Lee Hardcastle is an inspiration from the animation underground. Gruesome and gory animation. He’s been a bit of sensation recently. Zombies, aliens and chainsaws, stuff that works so well in puppet animation. His approach is very DIY, he doesn’t hide the fact sets are cardboard and the characters are plasticine, but embraces it but includes some really good animation. Really good timing of exploding guts and all that. Plently of chopped ankles and sawn off shotguns. BLAM>>>SPLURT…GROAN! His youtube channel is packed with plenty of this wholesome stuff.
I was reminded of Regular Show yesterday. It’s such a hilarious Cartoon Network show! The character design is so funny too, Benson is a foul tempered gum-ball machine and a Mordecai is a 6ft blue jay! In this episode Benson tries to control his anger… the results are worth waiting for.
I’ve been working on some lip-sync to Death Becomes Her. It’s one of my favourite films. It’s just so funny. I think seeing that as a child really shaped my imagination and humour, it was one of the few non-animated films I would actually sit through. I love Goldie’s voice, she doesn’t get on my nerves even when I hear it on repeat. I also think American dialogue is easier to sync. Is that possible? …“Divorce? In California? That’s exactly what she wants you to do!”
