Trip Transforms/Spot Lighting

The grass outside the school is now complete, got a big roll this morning and stuck it down, which is perfect! Gonna be trying some more dramatic/unrealistic lighting options to set the scene.

Wood Work Shop

We have access to the amazing ‘3D Large’ space at college. Today I was building the structure that will be under my main set. This will allow me to put magnets/bolts underneath to hold puppets in place. These photos are what happened on day 1. I’m quite pleased, I really thought it was going to be harder. I had done the drawings and measurements which just made all the sawing up much simpler. It’s pretty big and heavy, so it will be sturdy enough. Daisy, the 3D large technician was really cool, she filled me in on all the tools (like the chop saw) and then let me get on with it, helping me out when I… screwed up. A rewarding day, now I can’t wait to put the lid on it this Thursday!

DAY 2

The second day shooting went a little better, I felt more comfortable with Dragon software, and since the lighting was already set up I could begin animating sooner. I needed to put in more in-betweens than the day before, so I re-shot some sequences and gave different camera angles. Hopefully it will work when I start cutting it together today. Yesterday I had to repair the puppets, repaint Prospero’s hooves and smooth out Ariel’s neck and wrists where the plasticine had cracked. I’ve also changed her costume ready to go back in the rostrum room on Monday morning.
